Just A Little Update

I’ve always been a big believer in the saying that laughter is the best medicine. I have no idea what physically goes on in our

Would you ever swim here again? I mean, it is only prohibited AT THIS TIME…That indicates to me that diarrhea in the pool, at some point. was a big enough problem that they had to get a sign made!!

brains when we laugh, but I’ve had enough of it in my life to know that I need it as much as I need the air to breathe. So, when problems kick me in the stomach so hard I can barely stand the pain, it is hard to believe I’ll ever laugh again, much less just feel happy about life in general. I’m guessing that is probably a common reaction to painful stuff, but in my case, not a probable outcome. It would seem I’m more of an optimist than I ever thought I was inclined to be.

I figured that I’d be this little wad of sadness for a while. It wasn’t something I wanted, but I am not a very good pretender and I’m rather transparent no matter how hard I try not to be, especially in person. Even worse than that, I seemed only able to talk about this mess lately and nothing else, even though I desperately wanted myself to not be “that person”. But, like a poison, it was being vomited up and out, like a verbal diarrhea, much to my eternal dismay. They don’t make Immodium for verbal diarrhea.  :-(  Talk about a lesson in humility! So, I was resigned to the fact…I was probably going to be a bummer to be around for a while, and hopefully, not too many people would need to be exposed to me until the crap in my soul was finally purged.

It took 1 1/2 days of working for me to start feeling more like my old self, and less like this little skinny woman radiating grief to anyone with 10 feet of her. In fact, today, I felt a tiny bit guilty because I’m obviously feeling better than the Other Half of this problem. I like the fact that I seem to be healing up quick enough to not run off all my friends…at least not permanently, I hope.

I thought I would give a little update to the many of you that have been travelling with me through this whole painful process. I appreciate all the encouragement and empathy that has been shown to me, as well as the many stories that people have shared with me about their own journeys through this kind of heartbreak. Sometimes, it is just good to know that someone else understands exactly how you feel.

Just so you all know, I’m doing pretty good right now, probably thanks to all the prayers that flooded heaven for me and Chef. Working now, I don’t have time to write like I was before, but don’t take my slowing down as a sign of anything bad. I’ve laughed a few times today. For instance, look at the tags on this post…I went ahead and used all of the tags that WordPress suggested. Why “Anno Domini”, “public nuisance“, or my favorite, “Mumbai“??? From now on, I’m going to “Apply All” every tag it suggests on every post I write because that makes me laugh….Just so you ever wonder how I come up with such obviously not-related-to-this-post-in-any-way tags, you’ll know…   :-)

And A Third – The Liebster Blog Award

And another award!! This award was passed on to my from Stephen at Life Revelation. I appreciate Stephen’s shout-out, but I am especially honored by his description of me:

“Bird has a blog entitled Everyone Has A Story at http://birdmartin.wordpress.com…and does this woman have stories. Sometimes they are hilarious, other times you can feel the pain. No matter what she picks it and soldiers on. Talked about a trooper…this woman is the real thing.”

Now, that is just a seriously cool description, don’t you think?

So, as I’m given to do, I am going to skip all the nonsense personal stuff about me, and post yet another picture:

Okay. Which one is me?

Now, the person I’m nominating for this award is: writerwannabe at hometogo. While there are many things to like about her site, I am super impressed that she has been married for 49 years…Given the recent hiccough in my own marriage, I’m blown away by that! Please go check out her site. There is something there for everyone.

Thank you so much for my award!!

What Exactly Is The Message Here????

Things around here have been crazy, and I apologize for not writing yesterday. In addition to a huge outlaw motorcycle wedding celebration, I had other familial things going on, and I just couldn’t keep up with my reading and writing.

Today, after getting the house back into working order, I opened up my website, and lo and behold! I have 155 Spam Comments. I have Akismet, which has been pretty effective in weeding out the garbage that gets sent to my website, but I’m wondering what happened yesterday. Did Akismet take the day off, like me? I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many spam comments show up overnight.

Reading through these, I have to ask….Why is the grammar so obviously incorrect?? I can see where most of them have tried to sound somewhat personal, but when attached to some of the articles, they just sound ridiculous!

Here’s some of them that make me shake my head and wonder what the h*** they are trying to say.

“I like this post, enjoyed this one appreciate it for posting. “What is a thousand years Time is short for one who thinks, endless for one who yearns.” by Alain.” commented on My Hopes For This Blog

“obviously like your web site but you have to check the spelling on several of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very troublesome to inform the truth nevertheless I’ll surely come back again.” commented on My Hopes For This Blog      :(

“Thank you for the auspicious writeup. It in fact was a amusement account it. Look advanced to far added agreeable from you! However, how could we communicate?” commented on My Precious Son

“You have observed very interesting details ! ps decent site. “The appearance of right oft leads us wrong.” by Horace.” commented on A Game of Tag.

“What i don’t realize is in reality how you’re no longer really a lot more smartly-favored than you might be now. You are so intelligent. You understand thus significantly on the subject of this matter, produced me in my view imagine it from a lot of various angles. Its like men and women are not interested until it is one thing to do with Lady gaga! Your individual stuffs nice. All the time take care of it up!” commented on How An Outlaw Motorcycle Club Taught Me Honor

Maybe some day, someone could explain to me what exactly “spam” is and why their grammar and spelling  is so bad. And how do these messages get me to buy whatever these weirdo websites are selling?

The Very Inspiring Blogger Award

I’ve been honored this morning by being nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award by Alex at Worldly Winds. Thank you so much, Alex!!

The guidelines are….

Link back to the writer/site that nominated you.

  1. Nominate seven blogs   — I never nominate the required number..
  2. Let nominees know by leaving a comment on their sites; and
  3. Add the award image to your site
  4. Say seven things about yourself

So, for some more stuff about me. I can’t imagine what I haven’t already told you!! Let me think….

  1. I have green eyes and Chef says they get really, really dark when I’m angry. I’m hoping that is a compliment!
  2. All three of my children have different colored eyes…brown, green, and very blue.
  3. My very favorite comfort food is actually a beverage…Coca Cola..
  4. Several months ago, I gave up drinking so much Coke, reducing the amount to about 3 a week,  and to date, I’ve lost 28 pounds. I wasn’t actually trying to lose weight, so it was a pleasant surprise.
  5. My mother wrote romance novels before her stroke.
  6. My father is a very talented sculptor.
  7. Both of them flunked almost every math course they ever took … horribly; I, instead, excelled at math, and became a bookkeeper.

I would like to pass this little jewel of an award to the following blogs:

1. LaLa at Tales of a Charm City Chick. This link is to one of my favorites of her posts. All of her writing is excellent, but for some reason the wine bottle with the broken wine key still makes me laugh when I see it..Some of her stuff is risque, but she consistently writes witty, interesting, sometimes rather graphic, and very humorous posts. I always enjoy visiting her clever site.

2. Ed at Ed Christian’s World. Ed recently posted some recent pictures of himself on his blog just so I wouldn’t imagine him looking like a monkey! I just laughed and laughed about that. I also notice that Ed and I must have an almost identical blog list we are following because by the time I make my rounds to other people’s sites, he’s already been there, commented, and moved to the next one. Sometimes, I mentally race him.. :)

Thank you, again, Alex!!

Versatile Blogger Awards/Kreativ Blogger Award

x 3

I’ve been nominated for a Versatile Blogger Award by Spilled CookiesThe Truth Warrior and Lori Schulz, and the Kreativ Blogger Award by Faith 1st Ministries. I apologize to all of you for how long it has taken me to accept these awards…I am partially to blame, but frankly WordPress is going to have to take a little too. I don’t know if I’m just not doing something right, or what, but I get notified of only the most recent 9 comments. Yes, I get emails…hundreds of them, but I depend on that little orange button to direct me to comments, and it doesn’t seem to be able to count above 9! So, periodically I have to scan through recent posts and make sure I haven’t missed anyone. That coupled with my somewhat ditsy memory, I have let some stuff fall through the cracks. My apologies!!

I believe I’ve gotten all my nominations with this post!

Thank you all for remembering me and giving me a shout-out on your sites…I really do appreciate it, and am honored by your recognition!!

Here are the rules for the award:
1.Add the award to your blog.
2.Thank the blogger who gave it to you and include a link to their blog.
3.Mention 7 random things about yourself.
4.List the rules.
5.Give the award to 15 or more bloggers – I’m going to break this rule and keep the number of nominations short.

Here are 7 random things about me:
1. My least favorite household chore is ironing. I just hate ironing clothes with a purple passion.
2. Almost every month of my entire adult life I’ve considered having my hair straightened. Yet, I’ve never been able to work up the nerve to actually try it.

3. I love music, but I’m horribly tone deaf.

4. I broke my foot on 9/11 jumping over a couch.
5. When I’m in a really bad mood, I call my two kids that live here in Tulsa and warn them.
6. I hate horror/slasher movies and I will not watch them at all. I hate being scared.
7. The one achievement I’m most happy with is being a mother…hands down, the best part of my whole life!!

Here are my nominated bloggers

  1. Daily Living with a Christian Perspective - I’m nominating for the Kreativ Blogger Award
  2. pinkagendist- I’m nominating for the Versatile Blogger Award
  3. You Decide - I’m nominating for the Versatile Blogger Award
  4. Dumb Workers - I’m nominating for the Kreativ Blogger Award
I thought I would keep the nominations diverse.. I follow a lot of different kinds of sites, mainly because these people write interesting stuff that makes me think. Daily Living with a Christian Perspective tends to have this uncanny ability to write a post including a verse that I’ve been thinking about…it is odd how often that has happened! Pinkagendist is currently taking on bullying and even actively writes to schools, legislature, etc. in an effort to help other people. Maybe we don’t agree on some basic stuff, but I respect a person who not only voices a problem, but then actively tries to find a resolution. You go, Pink! You Decide is a plethora of Christian information. You can go through this site for about two minutes, and his posts will unclog your writer’s block!! Dumb Workers, by John the Aussie, simply makes me laugh. John and I share a similar sense of humor, despite it being a bit on the darker side.. :-)
Thank you guys again for the nominations!!
